Cleaning

Use a lightweight vacuum or broom to remove fine dirt and debris that builds up on flooring throughout each day. Depending on how much traffic your flooring endures, will determine how often you will need to sweep. Your vinyl plank flooring will maintain its natural look and beauty, when you take the time to sweep off the debris that can build up on a daily basis.


Everyday dish soap and water work great with a damp mop. Use a mop that you are comfortable using and if you’ve got a mud room with dirt buildup; it is OK to use a mop with a little scrub brush. However, be sure there are no wires or aggressively stiff bristles as it can damage your floor. This will allow you to remove the dirt that has been tracked in. This is the beauty of vinyl plank flooring, a little soap, water, and mop will bring your vinyl plank flooring back to life in no time at all. Be sure to rinse your flooring after you use a soap/water mixture. Fill a bucket with plain water and run your damp mop over your vinyl plank floor.

Maintenance

If your vinyl plank flooring needs a little more of a deep clean, just toss in a little white vinegar into a warm bucket of water. Again, take your damp mop and mop away. If you have a heavily soiled area; just take your mop and combine the dish soap with the white vinegar; this will liven up your vinyl plank flooring.


Strong, abrasive cleaners and wired brushed scrubbing pads should not be used on vinyl plank flooring. Some vinyl plank floors may benefit from a yearly coat of floor polish to protect against wear and tear. Be sure to read the manufacturer’s instructions so you can get the most wear out of your vinyl plank flooring.


Vinyl plank flooring works great in wet areas, heavily tracked in areas, as well as areas of your home that need a little extra tlc. When you do decide to install vinyl plank flooring, you will not have to worry about the maintenance issues that hang heavily over many types of flooring. Keep a broom and lightweight vacuum around and your vinyl plank flooring will be good to go 365 days of the year.
